The experience of trauma, loss and separation during childhood can have a profound impact on the child’s developing mind and body. The child might develop a range of complex difficulties, spanning across their sensory needs, attachment, behaviour and emotions and also their ability to learn and thrive. Parenting or caring for a child who has experienced trauma can be complex and emotionally challenging – and so many parents and carers find that their love is simply not enough to help their traumatised child settle and heal. This workshop aims to unpick the idea of ‘childhood trauma’, so that it becomes something that can be understood and healed within home and at school.
