Teresa Finlay is an experienced, UKCP accredited Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor and Mentalization Based Practitioner. Teresa has over 15 years of clinical experience working in a therapeutic community, university counselling service, community-based clinics and in private practice.
Teresa started her career working in resettlement services for adults leaving prison and so, from the early days of her training and career, Teresa has had a particular interest in early childhood adversity, attachment and trauma and how this impacts our psychological and emotional development and relationship to ourselves and others.
For a number of years Teresa held a position as a Resident Therapist with the Arbours Association working in a therapeutic community providing a programme of group and individual therapy and arts-based therapies. Alongside this she trained as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist seeing clients both through the Arbours Association of Psychotherapists and The Women’s Therapy Centre in London.
Teresa then worked as a psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with the University of Sussex Counselling Service, where she also facilitated a group mentalization program. Teresa also worked as a Senior Accredited Therapist and Clinical Supervisor with The Therapy Clinic in Brighton and Hove, and in private practice.
