I am an experienced clinical supervisor who adopts a collaborative, compassionate and strengths-based approach to learning and development. I strongly believe in the value of providing a safe and containing supervisory space which enables the practitioner to reflect on their practice and thereby provide insightful containment to their clients. I have undertaken formal training in clinical supervision at the Salomons Centre for Applied Psychology.
I have experience of supervising qualified therapists and psychologists, as well as those still undertaking their training. I am aware of the stresses and developmental leaps associated with undertaking psychotherapy training and am passionate about supporting people as they develop their practice and learn how to nurture themselves as practitioners. I have also supervised other health professionals, including Nurses and Nursery Nurses, and appreciate learning from, and working with, colleagues from other disciplines.
I previously worked for 15 years in the NHS, latterly as a Principal Clinical Psychologist, leading on service development and providing individual and group clinical supervision and consultation. My areas of specialism include perinatal mental health, parent and infant mental health, adult mental health, and complex trauma. I am predominantly an integrative and creative practitioner who utilises a range of therapeutic approaches within an overarching compassionate and trauma-informed framework. I bring the same flexibility to my supervisory and consultation work, whilst also ensuring that it demonstrates good clinical governance.
I particularly enjoy facilitating group supervision and offering group consultation, as I appreciate the opportunity to hear and include diverse voices. I undertook the Foundation Year in Group Analysis at the Institute of Group Analysis, London to further develop my skills and knowledge in working with groups and group processes. In my previous NHS role, I offered monthly complex case discussions to a large multidisciplinary team, and genuinely enjoyed facilitating multiple perspectives to deepen our shared understanding and develop more holistic and client-centered care plans.
I am currently able to offer in-person and virtual individual and group supervision and consultation.
