Jack is an enthusiastic, committed Dramatherapist with an ability to form high quality therapeutic relationships with often hard to reach clients. Jack has experience working with children and young people across a range of educational settings including SEN and Mainstream. This encompasses a broad age range from primary settings up to sixth form. Jack likes to use the flexibility of working creatively to adapt his work to suit the needs and capacity of the person in front of him to create moments of genuine connection and therapeutic healing.

Jack’s experience with adolescence especially has allowed him to work with self-harm, suicidal ideation, substance abuse issues, neurodiversity, issues surrounding sexuality, gender identity and trauma.

Jack is a personable, warm, and compassionate therapist with a keen interest for the explorative process of therapy. He particularly values the act and experience of play, and endeavours to weave playfulness into the therapeutic process wherever it fits well and whatever the age of his client.

Jack came to Dramatherapy through a long-lasting passion for the creative arts especially the theatre and performance. He learnt the transformational power of performance and self-expression through performance poetry in his teens. Jack’s journey began working in SEN schools supporting children with complex needs and developmental trauma. Through this work Jack learnt the transformational power of play and how it can be used to support the formation of healthy attachments.

Jack uses creativity in many different ways. These include story making, drawing, sculpting, small world toys and improvised play. This makes Jack’s approach particularly suited to younger children, adolescents or those who struggle to communicate verbally. Jack likes to work holistically, using the body as well as the mind in the therapeutic work. This allows Jack to work with the embodied experience of emotion or traumatic experience to bring about a deeper sense of healing.

Jack is registered with HCPC as a Dramatherapist – his membership number is AS16938.
