Hi, I’m Alison and I would like to give you a little insight into what to expect from me so you can decide if we may be a ‘good fit’ for each other. I have over 20 years’ experience working within psychology in various roles, both employed and self-employed, and I’m continually evolving and learning from all the people I meet – a learning that will never be complete.
I have had the privilege to supervise many different professionals, either whilst in their training or as experienced clinicians; and I believe that my experiences so far have helped me to develop a compassionate presence in the therapeutic space that I hope encourages honesty and growth. I believe the supervision process is just as much about ‘being’ as it is about ‘doing’.
My focus is largely relational, and feedback that I regularly receive is that the supervision space I provide offers a calm, safe place for authentic exploration and reflection both personally and professionally. I encourage openness and a collaborative reflective space that I view as more akin to an ethos rather than a specific ‘model’ of working.
I enjoy working in creative ways as much as possible, and draw on a wide range of approaches that are largely embedded and informed by trauma and attachment theory. This includes Existential, CBT/3rd wave, EMDR, animal assisted therapy and others – depending what resonates for the client and the presenting concerns.
