The Borderline Parent: implications for working therapeutically
Trainer: Dr Laura France, Clinical Psychologist and Adult Services Lead
Research shows us that at significant proportion of parents of children on the edge of care have experienced their won early trauma, and develop ‘borderline traits’ as a way to survive. This workshop equips social workers to understand what ‘borderline personality disorder’ is; and how to recognise its signs even in the absence of a formal diagnosis. The training draws on key strategies and ides for how to engage and work effectively with parents who have borderline traits, and how to respond to the challenges they bring.
