Introduction to trauma and attachment
Trainer: Dr Kathryn Whyte, Clinical Psychologist
Childhood trauma and insecure attachment patterns are two common themes in families under Children’s Services. This training delivers essential knowledge for social workers who aim to improve safer parenting; support the repair within parent-child relationships and reduce permanent removals. The workshop outlines the impact of childhood trauma on child development and parental functioning; explores what attachment is and how it is adaptive within frightening home environments; and importantly, equips participants with knowledge and skills to work from an attachment-informed perspective.
