Building nurture into school
Kate Levy and Jo Charlton, Specialist Educational Psychologists in trauma and attachment
This training workshop can be delivered in half a day or across two twilight sessions. Nurture is a growing trend within many schools, and evidence shows us that a nurturing learning environment improves attention, memory and achievement in many vulnerable children. This training course explores what is meant by the term ‘nurture’ and introduces the idea of nurture classes and nurture groups. The connections between nurture groups, attachment, emotional development and learning are made. The trainers facilitate a discussion about how nurture may be introduced to specific schools; and the Boxall profile is used to identify and support children’s emotional and developmental needs.
